This tutorial is for everyone that’s trying to create their own custom Illustrator brushes.
We’ll start off by creating a new document . For this go to File > New and just pick any resolution you prefer.

Now that we have our canvas, find the Star shape tool in the toolbar as you can see in the image (you can actually use any shape you like).
Now that we’ve found our Star shape, use it to create several shapes on your canvas and arrange them. Remember to select the empty fill(as seen in the picture). Also, a stroke of 7px should be just fine for our purpose.

You should now have something that looks similar to this.

You can certainly add some color to the stars but this is entirely up to you. If you choose to do so you can find the options up under the menu bar.
Next, make sure that your Brushes window is checked. Find it under Window > Brushes (or press F5).
Select your stars using the Move Tool (press V) then, in the Brush Window click the small arrow and select the New Brush option (Also, you can just select and drag them into the Brush Window). A dialog will pop up, select New Scatter Brush. Then, name your Brush and check that your options are similar to mine.

Congratulations! You have just created your first customized Brush. Time to test it out using the Brush Tool.
